ince its inception in 1930, Architectural Design (AD) has stood at the forefront of architectural discourse—a forum where emerging ideas, critical voices, and experimental practices intersect.

The AD of today will explore theory, practice, and culture—an ecology of architectural ideas—through critical reflection, dialogue, and action.

AD engages with the pressing questions of our time—across demographic, geographic, social, political, and technical boundaries. We collaborate with emerging and established voices alike, producing editions that are as rigorous in their scholarship as they are provocative in their cultural reach. Architectural practice is an active, interdisciplinary negotiation between art, culture, and the urgent realities of the constructed environment—where design is not an end in itself, but a medium for critical reflection and transformation.

We are redesigning AD.  Beginning in 2026, the publication will look different, while still honoring AD’s tradition of publishing themed issues curated by the AD team and guest-editors committed to probing the architectural culture of cities and regions worldwide.
